Whiskey, Women and Weed
Check this out, from Columbus, Ohio, a very young extremely talented kid hits the custom scene.  Dustin Adams, who is now part of our old buddy Bruce Mullins “Skunkworx” shop, has placed on the planet his first ever custom.

This young man shows much more maturity than his age.  Kudos to his rearing years as family taught him humility and respect.  It is infectious when a builder who has talent, personality and has also paid dues over 7 years introduces a majestic hand built piece (their first) with tremendous enthusiasm to our world.  Their rewarding and positive attitude for life rubs off on you and makes the photography session more than shooting just another bike.  Mid way through this shoot, Dustin and his buddy decided they had now witnessed and been part of all the glory they needed in their young lives.  The lure of the two lakes stocked with fish on both sides of the Farabaugh studio was too much.  Indeed, they both went fishing and pretty much decided I would do just fine without them photographing the bike.

With nearly 7 years under the tutelage of Mike Sullivan and Mark Datz, Dustin inhaled every breath of knowledge he could absorb related to transmissions, motors and iron design on motorcycles.   As time passed, so did wisdom gained on wiring, assembly, controls, layout and design.

Certainly, once ya think you actually have your act together, the time to step forward and produce a build that becomes reality. Help came in the form of a motor and tranny kind of / sort of donated to Dustin for some trade off work and seven years of hard work with Mike and Mark.  With motor and tranny in tow, a drawing of the Bobber image created in Dustin's mind, work began.

Dustin teamed with what he refers to as an old friend, Jon Immell. (his definition of “old” VS mine differ enormously) But that’s what makes this bike fun, ain’t it?  Youth at work.

Anyway, Dustin and Jon massaged a beat up old Sporty fender into a shorty on the rear.  They liked the Santee 40 degree rake frame with a 2 inch stretch and kept it stock.  However, the partners hammered and twisted out a very modified old set of Buell pipes for some one-of-a-kind exhaust.  Foot controls became a bit of a nightmare project but after throwing away several they finally ground a set that fit and looked right.

Obviously the bars are unique, that’s cuz they are chopped to hell, set of drag bars with YES, BMX bicycling brake lever, the taillight housing, last minute shifter set up, seat mount, and gas cap are all part of the handmade 5 month project closing fast requiring 24/7 on shifts the  last few days to meet the deadline of the spectacular John Green Easyriders Invitational Columbus Bike Show.  With big help from Pete for graphics and Jon our new kid on the proverbial block proudly wheeled her onto the Bike Show floor and yes,...WON! and yes, Clean Dean then put the view to her and that is why you see it in BIKER. Pretty damn nice little Evo Bobber with immaculate lines and not one damn piece of chrome anywhere.  Damn kids....gotta love what they are bringing to the table these days.

Ride hard, be careful out there...
