RON FINCH
He's been called Michigan's mysterious motorcycle madman by big Daddy Ed Roth, the "Rat Fink"' himself. Ron Finch is that and much more. Debby and I have known Ron for more than 30 years. Along the way, have photographed much of his art, enjoyed his craziness and on occasion, enjoyed a late night of partying with his entire entourage of friends. Some would say , too many occasions.
We will feature many more of Ron's pieces on this site as time goes on, however, this particular piece was so much fun we decided to start with it.
Built by Ron in the 60's, the old Pan was all but forgotten when a couple out of New York, Donald & Daryl Smith, found it. the machine was a mess with parts missing and full of rust. Originally the concept was a tribute to the Great Nordic God, "Odin of Valhalla". Odin's weapon of choice was the Ax. Ron really had no interest in restoring the machine. However, after lots of talking and convincing almost one year later, the God Odin is back.
