Todd Roberts - Black Swamp Customs
As with all three Biker/Penthouse build-off machine builders, Todd Roberts has his wild ideas worked into a full-blown finished product in less than two months.
This Black Swamp Custom Pro-Street has been meticulously airbrushed to bring to life the theme of northwest Ohio’s most famous Black Swamp territories. The eyeballs, skulls cartoon critters and creatures are all brought to life by the airbrush artwork and magic of Rob Barrera. Actually, the paint and molding is the product of Todd Roberts, Danny Young and Rob working as a team to complete as much detail as I can ever recall seeing on one machine.
Originally we put both Todd and Mike Phillips under the gun to get these machines completed for early February photo shoots with our Penthouse Pets. Todd had RC Components wheels (Wicked spinners inside keeps spinning when ya stop), frame and brake system on the floor in January. Kudos to RC Components for their righteous support and quick delivery of parts to all three of our builders.
Once Todd had the frame and wheels, the bike was mocked up and modified to fit a Twin Cam engine with the tank and fenders fabricated in three days. In November, when we approached Todd for this year’ only repeat builder from our 2003 Biker/Penthouse Show, he told us he was going to do up a Pro-Street look with a 135 cubic-inch extraordinary conversion with a right-side supercharger power plant. Todd chose the industry’s most progressive supercharger genius to help build a true 135 that will also run on a daily basis. Frank Boa, the owner of Eagle Motor Company from Cincinnati, Ohio. Frank’s knowledge and wisdom of big motors and supercharges is unparalleled in our industry. Frank had Todd’s motor done and on display at the Cincinnati V-Twin Show.
Although this type of horsepower is not for everyone, a Roberts machine using the A & B motors provides more reliability into the mix as Todd is also a charter graduate of Harley University School of “You better have your shit together on these motors”, and put nearly 20 years into the grind of running a service department at a major H-D dealership. The man knows Harley motors, and has a lifetime behind him making them run at peak performance.
With this supercharger power Roberts called Hi Teach, who also stepped up to the plate by delivering a four-inch Outlaw belt system within three weeks. Todd hooked up with Lee’s Trim to use crocodile upholstery on the set pan he designed. Other parts created by Black Swamp are handlebars, custom side plate, shift rod, coil bracket, custom swingarm, taillight mount, and hangers.
Our buddy and major sponsor, Lee Wimmer, added the velocity stack. Check out his web site, wimmermachine.com, for a bunch of cool stuff that works for your baby out in the garage. You won’t believe how damn cool our Biker/Penthouse posters are this year. They are indeed spectacular and pretty much going to be a collector’s item. Actually, you can catch a glimpse of each one on the web site ballsbiker.com.
I’ve been very luck in my career to travel across America many times on my motorcycle and visit bikers and shops everywhere. I’ve got to brag to you about Black Swamp Customs home base. This place ain’t just cool, it is the top of the heap nicest motorcycle shop I’ve placed my eyes on. For starters the place has a full restaurant and bar inside the shop.

Perched on Todd’s machine is Penthouse pet, Natalia Cruze. Natalia is 22 years young, and is an LA woman. Natalia loves to ride herself and often takes off into the California Mountains. We enjoyed her all-natural body and aggressive high-energy modeling style. In addition to modeling, Natalia is an accomplished classical guitar player and can be found on stage in night clubs on occasion performing as a jazz singer.
Look forward to seeing you all at our Biker/Penthouse biker build off in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Be careful out there,
Balls
