THREE TWO CHOPPERS

I was doing a solo side ride hanging out on Route 66 West going to visit a long time Buddy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, DR. Goff, the doctor part of his name comes from his life long career of examining the female anatomy.  Anyway, DR and I grew up together in the booming metropolis of Granger, Indiana.  The Vietnam War, college and careers kept us in different directions for a few years.  However, the last 25 have been shared with often times too much craziness.  DR is a world class photographer who past along much wisdom to me over our extended careers.

We met up with each other at the Easyriders Show in Albuquerque, began partying about noon when Dr and I grabbed a look at Three Two choppers stuff.  The show was a bit slow as Easyriders shows go, so I had time to spend with the Three Two crew.  The old school Shovel was a fitting tribute to all those crazy years I had in fixing them. I told Three Two I’d like to shoot their scoot on Route 66.  DR chimed in and mentioned he knew of this old Catholic church on Route 66 in old town Albuquerque. We needed a break from the show so DR and I road a bit south to Old Town, where I saw this marvelous old historic church architecture with the buildings color matching the bike.  It was obvious our location scouting was over.  Best of all, when we went inside the priest was outstandingly hospitable to us.  I asked if we could shoot on Sunday and he agreed to allow us a run of the church during Mass.  It was great!  As we arrived hundreds of folks entered the church and as soon as the doors closed, we commenced to shooting.  Then that Mass ended and we did the entire gig over again as the 2nd service began.  What a combination of fabulous friendship, machinery and scenery.  I’m sure the Lord blessed this photo shoot.

Something about that day and this shot, outstanding friendship, historical location on Route 66, lots of respect for the Lord’s house.
