VINCENT BLACK SHADOW

Brent Mayfield restores the famous Vincent Black Shadow.  As all motorcycling enthusiasts know, the Vincent Black Shadow was and still is world renowned for production speed. The machine was by far faster than any bike known to man during its tenure of the 40’s and 50’s. The Black Shadow was hand built and produced by Vincent HRD beginning in 1948. The “C” series was introduced in 1950’s and had a 998 cc 50 degree OHV engine which ran a 7:3:1 compression ratio.

The frame of the Black Shadow was a stress design.  The engine being suspended from above became an integral part of the entire structure.  Actually, the entire engineering package of this motorcycle created a magical machine that is to this day, mechanical wizardry.

The bike you see here was meticulously restored by an amazing hands of the extremely gifted, Brent Mayfield.  It was then sold to the AMA who used it as a prize through their museum marketing department.  Ballsbiker.com will show more of Brent's work with antique greats in months to come.
